Sibal said that the Indian government is now looking for Cabinet approval after which it will be able to manufacture 50 lakh units of the Aakash tablet in India. He also added, “A global tender for its production in the country will be floated then”. The Aakash 2 tablet was launched earlier this month. The tablet has been designed, developed and manufactured by DataWind Ltd. for supply to IIT Bombay.
