Activision has revealed that the latest avatar of the hugely popular Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Ghosts, has generated over $1 Billion in worldwide sales. It must be noted that these sales are to retailers and does not necessarily mean that all have been sold to consumers. Nevertheless Activision is confident that this will be the most successful launch for any game on the next generation consoles; the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. As of now, Activision has claimed that Microsoft has revealed to the games publishers that Call of Duty: Ghosts is the most played game on the Xbox Live community this week. The new Call of Duty game is also being played for longer sessions that the older games; Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 3. RockStar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 garnered 800 Million $ on its first day and only hit a Billion $ on day three. And yet, these figures are based on actual sales to consumers and not just to retail outlets. Adding credence to Activision’s claims that Call of Duty: Ghosts will be the most successful launch game for the new generation consoles is GameStop, who have stated that Call of Duty: Ghosts is the most pre-ordered next generation console game.
