Google and Songza did not provide any details regarding the price of the deal. Google has been quoted saying in a statement, “We’re thrilled to welcome Songza to Google. They’ve built a great service which uses contextual expert-curated playlists to give you the right music at the right time.” Meanwhile, Songza’s team was also quoted saying in a blog post, “We’re thrilled to announce that we’re becoming part of Google. We can’t think of a better company to join in our quest to provide the perfect soundtrack for everything you do.” Google has said that it is not planning to make any changes for Songza on an immediate basis, but is likely to incorporate the technology into its other two music apps, Google Play Music All Access and a forthcoming YouTube music-streaming service which is scheduled to be launched in the next few months.
