For all those who were wondering about whatever happened to Google’s proposed Chromebooks, this news will definitely perk up their spirits. Google brought out a Samsung Chromebook powered by an ARM Cortex A15 processor and this device is now officially available for pre-order with a price tag of $249. The Chromebook features an 11.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels. It’s all of 0.8 inches thick and weighs about 2.5 pounds. The Chromebook is expected to run for almost 6.5 hours on a single charge of the battery and comes with 100GB of cloud space provided by Google Drive for 2 years. It has USB 2.0 as well as USB 3.0 ports, and even an HDMI port. A VGA resolution web-cam is also included in the Chromebook. It can run on WiFi networks and even has Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity. The Chromebook is expected to boot up in just 10 seconds and you can even view HD videos comfortably on the device. Google first debuted the concept of the Chromebook way back in May 2011, and released the first Chromebook earlier this year at a price of $549.99. Unfortunately, due to its high price, it didn’t take as many takers as Google expected. Maybe this time around, thanks to their collaboration with Samsung on designing the Chromebook, they might just be lucky.
