Mahindra E20: We’ve been hearing about this one for the longest time, so you can only imagine our excitement when we feature this one right on top of our list. The Reva is going to have some competition with Mahindra’s own electric car. Technically, it’s not quite a brand new car – the E20 is essentially the production version of the Reva NXR concept that was showcased a few years ago. Powered by 48 V Li-ion batteries, the E20 can run for 100km on a single charge. But, this eco-friendly option isn’t necessarily pocket friendly – we’re expecting it to be priced in the Rs. 5.5-6 lakh range. Ford EcoSport: The age of compact SUVs is finally here, and Ford’s all in on it with its upcoming offering, the EcoSport. With a futuristic, aerodynamic design, the EcoSport comes loaded with advanced features like smart start, hill assist, voice controls, etc., and is carefully designed to make maximum use of space. Fitted with the award-winning 1.0 liter ecoboost engine for improved fuel efficiency, this one looks like it is tailor-made for the Indian market. While the pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, we’re hoping that Ford would price it under Rs. 10 lakh. Chevrolet Enjoy: General Motors is all set to increase its presence in India, and the Enjoy is just one among 4-5 models expected to launch this year. This will be GM’s first MPV for India, and will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia, and Toyota Innova. The Enjoy comes out of GM’s partnership with SAIC-Wuling and will be powered by Fiat’s 1.3 liter and will cost less than Rs. 6 lakh. Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha: This car got delayed unfortunately due to the issues Maruti Suzuki went through last year. But this compact SUV is under 4 meters in length with a powerful looking design and strong grille. We can hope to see a diesel engine under the hood, and a price between Rs. 8 and 10 lakh. Watch out Ford EcoSport, this one will be one of your biggest competitors. Honda Amaze: The Amaze will be Honda’s first diesel vehicle launched on Indian roads. Based on the Brio, its design would look familiar. Under 4 meters in length, the Amaze would have a sub-1.5 liter engine under its hood and would probably offer direct competition to Maruti Suzuki DZire and other entry sedans. In addition, you can expect to see other interesting cars coming up this year like the diesel version of Hyundai i10, a new MPV from Hyundai, Volkswagen Cross Polo, Chevrolet Sail Sedan, and many more cars.
