Before iPhone 6 rumors caught steam it was thought that Apple has acquired the Prime Sense for its other products such as iPad and iPhone. However, according tech Blogger Jessica lessing, “The grand plan for the PrimeSense buy, involves enhancements for Apple’s in-house map application. PrimeSense technology is much more strategic for mapping, according to one person familiar with the company.”

The 3-D sensing capability will help Apple enhance the features of its Map app. With its use Apple will be  able to map better the indoor and outdoor areas. There is possibility of  extinction of 2D maps  as Lessing believes that , “Soon enough, phones “phones will pull up scans of real spaces we want to visit or may be approaching.”  If Apple is able to improve its Mapping capacities than it will replace Google Maps once again from all its devices.  In 2012 Apple ditched Google maps for Apple maps. However, after being criticized by the users Apple soon replaced its own map application with Google map.  Now that Apple is working on its app, it seems it will return stronger and better against Google maps.
