The report from Internet infrastructure services provider Verisign suggests that with 5.7 million new domain names being registered, it is a growth of 2.4 percent over the second quarter of 2012. For the industry, this marks the 7th quarter in a row to have achieved more than 2% growth. A Verisign statement suggested that worldwide registrations have grown by 26.4 million or 12 percent since the third quarter of 2011. The TLDs experienced aggregate growth in the Q3 2012, reaching a combined total of 119.9 million domain names in the adjusted zone for .com and .net. This is a 1% increase in the base over the Q2 2012 and a 7.1 percent increase over Q3 2011.
