It seems Lenovo has learnt the pulse of the market. The second-largest PC manufacturer after Hewlett-Packard Co. introduced a new and better version of its Thinkpad on Wednesday in Beijing. The latest offering from Lenovo will appeal to the ones fond of Smartphones and Tablets. Called ThinkPad X1 Carbon, this sleek and savvy notebook will hit the shelves next month. The latest ThinkPad has third-generation wireless connectivity and other features inspired by tablets and smartphones, said ThinkPad business unit vice president Dilip Bhatia. He said that was in response to demands by customers who want a tablet’s convenience but need a notebook’s wider range of functions. “They want faster. They want thinner,” Bhatia said. The new version sports a 14-inch (35.5 centimeter) screen, and the laptop weight have been reduced by three pounds from 3.7 pounds to 1.7 kilograms Bhatia. He said it the think pad will have a eight hour battery life and the notebook will start in less than 20 seconds. The ThinkPad unit launched the first tablet version of its computer last year. When asked by Washington Post how well the notebook prove amidst the growing tablet market Bhatia said, “There will still be strong demand for notebooks to perform more complex functions in business, education and government. Forecasts call for global notebook sales to reach 230 million this year, versus 110 million for tablets.”
