As per a report by CounterPoint Research, an independent market research and consulting firm, Gurgaon-based Micromax has surpassed Samsung, becoming the topmost mobile phone manufacturer in India in the Q2 2014.   In the April-June period, Micromax’s mobile shipments share was 16.6 %, more than Samsung’s, which was 14.4 %. Nokia followed Samsung, capturing 10.9 % share. Market shares of other Indian mobile makers such as Karbonn and Lava stood at 9.5 % and 5.6 %, respectively. In mobile phones shipments, Samsung still managed the top slot with the share value of 25.3 % in the Q2. While Micromax stayed the second largest smartphone vendor, capturing 19.1 % share. As per a report by Canalys, Samsung, Micromax and Karbonn stay the foremost smartphone makers, producing 8.5 million, 5.8 million and 2.3 million handsets, respectively. Apparently, Motorola shipped 955,650 smartphones in the Q2, while Nokia manufactured around 633,720 smartphones. Largest in India, Micromax is said to be the tenth largest mobile maker in the world, in terms of mobile phones shipments with a share of 15.2 %. Micromax offers low-cost mobile phones with bigger screens, dual SIM cards, camera features- all at cheap prices. This season, the firm launched two new smartphones; Unite 2 and Canvas Windows.
