Comparing the three tablets Microsoft had a golden opportunity to stun the world by introducing an upgrade to the entry-level Surface tablet. However, it decided to launch the Surface Pro 2 instead. The new tablet from Microsoft is 50 dollars cheaper than the original one’s introductory price. However, the price drop does not compensate for some basic, fundamental problems that plague the Surface 2 Pro. Most of these problems revolved around the apps ecosystem and the operating system designed by Microsoft. With the Surface Pro 2, Microsoft seems to be screaming from rooftops about how lighter, faster and thinner is the new Surface 2. Technically speaking, it is indeed lighter and thinner. However, the Surface 2 only is one-hundredth of a pound lighter and one-hundredth of inch thinner than the previous version. On the other hand, Lenovo has made a good effort at leveraging its Yoga brand by launching the 10 and 8-inch Android tablets running on the 4.2.2. OS. While the 8-inch tablet is priced at 249 dollars, the price for the 10-inch is 299 dollars. The Lenovo Yoga tablet sports a unique design. However, the specs truly disappoint. Both the 8-inch and the 10-inch tablets are powered by quad-core 1.2-GHz MT8125 processor. Meditek does not have a record for making powerful processors for tablets. The Apple iPad Air is yet another tablet from the tech giant based in Cupertino. The skinniest-ever full size tablet has been the iPad 2 which was launched in the year 2011. The iPad 2 weighed 1.33 pounds and was .34 inch thick. However, the new iPad Air which was launched in 2012 March weighed 1.44 pounds and was thick at .37 inches. The slightly updated iPad Air which was released in September this year features the same form specs as the 2012 model, which is quite surprising; as Apple is known to make its devices thinner and lighter with every update.
