While Steve Jobs will undoubtedly go down in history as the man responsible for Apple, he also had an important role to play in creating Pixar, the animation company. And now, after his death, Pixar has decided to name its headquarters’ main building after Steve Jobs. The building at The Emeryville, California, has been named “The Steve Jobs Building”, and is especially memorable since Jobs even helped design this building. Jobs wanted the building to have a central atrium where employees could interact with each other and share ideas on their work. Steve Jobs invested millions of his own money into the company before it turned into a profitable establishment, all based on his faith in Pixar. He purchased a part of the computer graphics division of George Lucas’s Lucasfilm in 1986 for a sum of $10 million and created Pixar. Pixar’s first feature film, Toy Story, released in 1995 and became an instant hit, earning the company significant fame. Steve Jobs was named an executive producer in this film and later went on to become Pixar’s CEO until selling the company to Disney in 2006. Pixar also paid tribute to Jobs during the end credits of its latest movie, Brave. It has been over a year since Jobs passed away, but he will always be remembered by millions of Apple fans worldwide, and now, Pixar’s employees too.
