The first major renovation comes to Yahoo Mail since Marrisa Mayer took reins of the company five months ago. The internet company which was struggling before Mayer came on board has also release new and better versions of Yahoo Mail products for iPhone, Andriod and Windows 8.. Yahoo! needs to capture a lot as far as mobile media is concerned and this seems the right step in the direction. The new version of Yahoo Mail performs fast and has done away with auxiliary features. “You’ve told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email. You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day,” Mayer said in a post on Yahoo’s official blog on Tuesday. According to survey conducted by Com Score Yahoo! leads the pack of email service providers in US and has been positioned no 3 worldwide just after Google Inc’s Gmail and Microsoft Corp’s Hotmail. Though the company is hailed worldwide, its mail users have declined by 16 % in November from a year earlier in the United States and 7 percent worldwide in October whereas there has been constant increase in the no of Gmail users. They have increased by 25 percent in the U.S. in November and 20 percent worldwide in October. Analysts say, “Yahoo’s email decline also owes partly to the broader trend of younger Internet users who prefer to communicate with text messages rather than email”. Mayer is one her way to invigorate Yahoo;s web based products to bring back the company in swing. Mayer has won accolades in Silicon Valley for her Web friendly products, though there are some analysts who are doubtful about her role as a CEO. She has said her top priority is to create a coherent mobile strategy for Yahoo and that she intends for at least half of the company’s technical workforce to be working on mobile products.
