There are many rumors that peg the release date of the Galaxy S4 as sometime in end-February, during Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona. However, Samsung has not yet confirmed any of these rumors, so we’re not really sure if there’s any truth in them. Given that the Galaxy Note 2 was launched in late 2012, it comes as no surprise that it will end up competing against the Galaxy S4, whenever it releases. Dimensions: The Galaxy Note 2 has a separate niche for itself in the range of phablets – too big to be just a smartphone, but smaller than a tablet with its 5.55-inch display. However, we are expecting the Galaxy S4 to be smaller than the Galaxy Note 2 and have dimensions more comparable with its predecessor, the Galaxy S3. What we can expect, however, is that it would have a larger display but a slimmer body than the S3. Display: According to rumors, the Galaxy S4 could have a 4.99-inch or a 5-inch display. The Galaxy S4 display is rumored to have a 1080p resolution and a count of 440 pixels per inch, similar to the Droid DNA, which makes visuals stand out far better than on the Galaxy Note 2. Camera: Samsung has fitted the Galaxy Note 2 with an 8 MP rear camera and a 1.9 MP front-facing camera. With every step towards improvement, it’s not surprising that the camera in the upcoming Galaxy S4 would be more powerful. We’re hearing that it could have a 13 MP rear camera. Processing power: With a quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM, the Galaxy Note 2 is all about power in your palms. If this is anything to go by, we’re hoping to see a similar configuration even in the Galaxy S4. In addition, hopefully, Samsung will include a wireless charging feature on the Galaxy S4 – something that’s missing in the Galaxy Note 2, but already available as an option on its other competitors. OS: The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which also includes the Google Now feature, and is a huge step over the previous Android 4.0 ICS. In addition, Samsung has put in TouchWiz feature over the OS, which gives the phablet many additional features like Multi-Window View. Samsung could even offer an upgrade to Android 4.2 for the Galaxy Note 2. On the other hand, the Galaxy S4 could run on Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, which is expected to release sometime in May 2013.
