Sony is stepping up with bigger surprises in the Android world by unveiling Xperia ZU, one of the biggest smartphones in the market. 2013 has been a lucky year for Sony as it established itself in the Android world with Xperia Z at CES. The well received Xperia Z had some quality design with water proof and dust resistant case. Xperia Z was followed by another water proof device, Xperia Tablet Z. This 10.1-inch tablet was thinnest in the market and again it was very well received by the users. Sony is following the trend set by Samsung and HTC’s naming conventions by keeping the name ZU where U stands for Ultra display of 6.44-inch. The official specs include a 6.44-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS LCD X Reality display with 342ppi (pixels per inch), 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel Exmor RS camera, a 1.3-megapixel Exmor R frot facing camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, a microSD expansion slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards, a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery with Android 4.2.2 and a 2.2GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor. The dust and water-resistant ZU will be without a stylus to allow users to use any pen or pencil on its scratch resistant screen. One more feature for note taking and drawing software linked to Evernote would be included in the ZU. The expected announcement is speculated at its July 4 event to match up with its rivals- Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One Max.
