Apple’s MacBook Air was one of the first ultra portable laptops to integrate Intel’s new 4th generation i-series micro processor called Haswell. Apple achieved this by installing the micro processor into the MacBook Air without making any change to the machine itself. The new micro processor provides much better battery life than anything before and is a whole lot faster too. Sony’s Vaio Pro 13 Touch has been designed with the Haswell processor in mind. Made out of carbon fibre this 1,200$ laptop is quite light and durable. A great ergonomic feature is that when the screen is lifted up it tilts the keyboard to a very comfortable angle. The Vaio Pro 13 Touch beats the MacBook Air when it comes to specifications but only by a small margin. A major difference is that the Vaio Pro 13 Touch has a touch screen like the name indicates. The Vaio Pro 13 Touch also supports gesture control via the camera. While not the most useful system, it is great to be able to control music volume from a few feet away.
