Microsoft is on its game. First the preview of Windows 8, then the unveiling of enchanting Surface tablet, and now the magnetic promotional offer. On Monday, the computer giant made an announcement that the users of Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 PCs will now be able to upgrade to the new Windows 8 Pro for just $39.99. NPD Group analyst Stephen Baker acknowledged this as a smart move by Microsoft as it wants to build a strong consumer base for its new operating system. “It’s even more important this time around,” said Baker, referring to the venture Microsoft is taking with the spectacularly different Windows 8 and its new Metro user interface, which is heavily inspired from the Apple App store. Users will get their hand on the most advanced version retail version of the OS, Windows 8 Pro later this year after the final launch. The release date and the price of the Windows 8 Pro has been kept under wraps and if analysts are to be believed then Windows 8 Pro will make a smashing debut for Intel and AMD powered desktops, notebooks and other devices this fall. This announcement has come as a follow up to the one made four weeks ago when Microsoft said that the users using Windows 7 can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $39.99. For those who prefer to shop at a local store, a packaged DVD version of the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro will be available for $69.99 during this promotion. This deal is good till Jan 31, 2013. In the recent blogpost Microsoft mentioned that the new offer is open to customers with PCs powered by XP, Vista or Windows 7, the upgrade is most thorough from Windows 7. “You will be able to upgrade from any consumer edition of Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro and bring everything along which includes your Windows settings, personal files, and apps,” said company spokesman Brandon LeBlanc.
