Things are looking up for the three-year old Xiaomi, touted as China‘s top mobile maker in the Q2. The offbeat success in China has made Xiaomi the fifth largest smartphone producer in the world. In the Q2 ended June, Xiaomi produced 15 million smartphones in China, beating Samsung, which sold around 13.2 million units. The Chinese maker also surpassed local brands such as Lenovo and Huawei. Lenovo fell behind Samsung selling around 200,000 smartphones in the second-quarter. To stay ahead in the competitive fight of smartphones, Xiaomi launches a new version of its operating system every Friday. The firm has a customised OS called MiUi, which users can help design by giving feedback online. Last month, Xiaomi launched the Mi 3 model in India, and more than 100,000 people pre-registered for a supply of 10,000 units. Last year, Xiaomi employed Hugo Barra as its international vice president. Mr. Barra is a former vice president of Google’s Android operating system. The Chinese handset maker exported around 100,000 smartphones during the April-June period and is working on to conquer the global market, setting up stores in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. The firm plans to expand to India, Turkey, Mexico, Indonesia and Brazil. Also read:
